New car rental system in Vegas?

I've heard that the City of Las Vegas took over management of the car rental shuttle earlier this year and it was disorganized and slow for awhile.

Anyone used it recently? I'm hoping to hear some positive feedback.

I used it in April - the change-over happened mid-trip, so it was the old way entering Las Vegas and the new way exiting. I thought it was great! Much faster and not confusing. All the rental companies are in the same building, so pick-up and drop-off are in the same location. However, the shuttle takes a little longer as the rental center is further from the airport.

It was fine in May. I wish more airports would go the centralized system. It's idiotic to have 10 or so rental companies all running their own shuttles at way less than full capacity.

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear that it's functioning well - it sure seems like a better system.

I used it in June, at least I tried to. I had a reservation with Budget and after waiting in line fo 20 minutes the Budget rep told me that I'd have to wait another 30 minutes to get a car. I told him to cancel the car and I asked a few other rental companies what their rates were and they were 3x what my Budget reservation price was. I just grabbed a cab from the rental building to my hotel and took the bus and monorail all week. If you are going to use the car rental facility in Vegas it would be a good idea to sign up for the "club" that let's you go right to the car without waiting at the counter. I'll do that from now on. Also, try to be one of the first persons off the bus because the lines can get long inside.

doctordec - it sounds like you got around fine without a car. We are only flying into Las Vegas - heading to Utah so we need a car. Thank you for the tips.
