Alabama to Mississippi weekend with 11 & 13 year old
We've decided to leave all the DIY projects of our new home behind this weekend and head to our neighboring MS for a bit of R&R. We will be travelling with a 13 year old girl & an 11 year old boy. When I asked what they had in mind they said, "fun! Which means, NOT educational and NOT historical!! So hmmm.... We have been to Tupelo & onto Graceland for the Elvis experience. We've driven a bit of the Natchez Trace. We've done the Vicksburg thing, and once overnighted in Biloxi. That's not to say we saw all there was to see in each place because all were short weekend trips.
We haven't decided if we will head north or south. We live in central AL so either is doable. ANY ideas, tips, suggestions of places to go or things to do???? This new PHASE the children are in have me stumped! As long as there is a nice hotel with a good pool for me to retun to in the evening, I'm pretty much open to anything.

Thank you qwovadis. We love Gulf Shores, Orange Beach & Destin too and yes, the beaches are much nicer than the little bit I have seen of the MS coast. The kids would of course love to go there EVERY weekend but we try to take them different places when we go on these little weekend trips. We stayed at the Beau Rivage the one night we spent in Biloxi a couple of years ago & it was a great place. I would love to go back IF I knew there were "tween friendly" activities. We didn't spend enough time there to find out. Does anyone know?

It's probably too late for your Q, but there are plenty of things for tweens to do in Biloxi and the MS coast.
Visit www.gulfcoast.org and click on visitors, family activities, and they break it down by interests: swamp tours, boating, horseback riding and outdoor activities, arcades, etc.

A trip to MS is not complete unless you visit the Delta for fine food and blues. Don't miss Clarksdale, Greenwood and Greenville. Good luck.
