2 Days in LA....sequence of itinerary...how to maximize our limited time?
Hi there - I'm hoping someone out there might have some advice on the sequencing of things I would like to see/do in LA.(or if I'm completely dreaming to try to get all of this in!)....I'll be traveling with my boyfriend who is French, and never been to LA.
We arrive early tomorrow am (will be renting a car) and would like to hit up most (if not all) of the below. We are staying in Santa Monica and would like to spend the second day doing Santa Monica/Venice then drive up through Malibu in the evening on our way out of town. But for the first day (tomorrow) we have no idea where to start and the sequence to maximize time/avoid traffic...?
Any advice would be immensely appreciated!
Getty (even just the outside)
Runyon Canyon
Hollywood Blvd
Mulholland Drive
Studio tour (any reco's?)
Griffiths Observatary
Thank you so much!

Holy smoke. It's almost tomorrow. Here's a possible Itinerary.
1. Head for Runyon Canyon, because it will be early and other attractions may not be open. Hike some.
2. Drive to and park at the Hollywood and Highland Center, less than 2 miles from the Runyon Canyon trail head. See Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Sign. (Viewing spot somewhere in the Center. Ask.)
3. Griffith Observatory. Park in lot at the top near the Observatory. If no space, park on the road leading up. Observatory free. Buy tickets for planetarium show.
4. Warner Bros. VIP Studio Tour, Burbank. You become a VIP as soon as you buy a ticket. Best of the Studio Tours.
5. Mullholland drive. Get on it somewhere and take it to the 405.
6. Head south on the 405 to the Getty. Not far, maybe the next exit. Park and take the Tram up to the museum. Pay to park. Museum is free.
7. Back to Santa Monica on the 405.
You may not be able to do all this in one day, as you can guess.

Sounds like a VERY full schedule. Don't be disappointed if you don't make all of it. Some additional information. I believe that Griffith Observatory opens at 12:30. Early is better than later. The parking fee for the Getty is a whopping $15, but the museum itself is free. Expect traffic, especially on the 405.
The sequence listed sounds like a good plan.
Let us know what you accomplished. Have a good time.

WOW! you are both awesome! I would never be able to come close to seeing everything without this excellent sequence and advice. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about it...but I want his first experience in LA to be a great one, so I'll give it a shot!
Again - thank you so much!*Fingers crossed* traffic isn't too horrible today!

Waiting to hear their travel report. I too would have advised getting over to Hollywood/tryng to finish your tours by mid-day there - and then working your way back to the Getty - by the 405 - closer to your accommodations in Santa Monica - from where you could take surface streets "home" if you had to.
