1st Time to Vegas: Bellagio, Four Seasons, or THEHotel at Mandalay

This Fall I'm going to Las Vegas for the first time with a couple friends. Although we might hit the slots a couple times, we are not major gamblers... we really just want a "getaway from it all and pamper yourself" kind of weekend getaway.

With that in mind, which hotel do you think is the best choice?

Thanks for your advice!!

If it's luxury and pampering you're after, you can't go wrong with any of those choices.

Bellagio is more centrally located than the other 2, if that matters to you. The Mandalay Bay seems to have more nightlife.

Isn't Four Season's located in the Mandalay Bay complex?

Bellagio would be my choice simply because of location. All 3 are very nice.

From what I can tell, THEHotel and the Four Seasons are both somewhere in or near the Mandalay Bay complex... since I've never been to Vegas, I'm not sure if that's an asset or a liability.

Mainly, I'm looking for a luxury hotel that will be in a good location to experience Vegas for the first time. (I'm assuming the Strip is the best location?).

We stayed at Mandalay a couple of years ago and it was excellent. It is, however, at the end of the strip. The monorail is helpful to get more central.

THE HOTEL is behind Mandalay Bay which sets it off the strip a little bit (about one block & Vegas blocks are huge).

Mandalay Bay is at the very far end of the strip, there is a walkway (mini mall) now between Luxor and Mandalay Bay which makes it a little better, but my choice would still be Bellagio for all the right reasons!

Bellagio is kinda central, so very nice for taking a walk to other casinos.

LilyLace-

Thanks for the reply. Okay, judging by your post, the Bellagio is much more in the center of it all? I definitely want to be able to walk around to other casinos or hotels while I'm there.

So, I'm assuming the rooms at the Bellagio stack up pretty equally with the other two locations?

Thanks!

I'd choose Bellagio. Great location, great rooms, great amenities. You will not be disappointed.

For your first time, I say stay at the Bellagio. Once you've done Vegas, then go back and stay at Mandalay or THEHotel. In my book, THEHotel is THE "in" place now, and the rooms are huge! So, if you're sharing a room between 4 people, THEHotel is the place for you.

Four Seasons is "ok" - I mean, in my opinion, it's for "older" people who have $$$ and don't want to gamble and want a quieter place to stay.

Just returned from Vegas and stayed at the Bellagio. It was our first trip...but not our last just booked another trip for November---we loved the Bellagio that much.

The location cannot be beat, as it is right in the middle of everything (and that is the least it has to offer) The rooms are large and beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is superb! We even won serious $$ there (and came home with it). Mandalay Bay looks nice but it is at the very end of the strip...actually that and the Luxor are the 2 hotels you see from the airport!

Thanks for all the replies, I guess I've narrowed it down to the Bellagio because of its location... although THEHotel is very tempting with its oversized rooms!

SimoneSassett (or anyone who cares to reply), what is the atmosphere like at THEHotel? I cannot seem to find too much online about it. I guess it's a fairly new property?

Imagine upscale trendy boutique hotel.... Like a W or Standard Hotel, only you get to gamble in Vegas on top of it. Great lounge - not your typical tourist trap. I would say the demographics are young single or couple professionals with $$$, and older couples with money who dislike the craziness of slot machine noise and want a more "upscale" atmosphere. Kind of what Bellagio was going for when it first opened, but in my opinion, has degraded slightly ever since Wynn sold it to MGM. You can always check it out while you're there.

Bellagio has a great location and very nice rooms but there were a few problems when we were there in May. The spa was temporarily relocated to another part of the hotel. We stopped by to make an appointment for a massage and the place was a madhouse - a long line of people trying to make reservations, mobs of people in robes fighting their way through the crowds. It became obvious that their temporary location was much too small and we decided to pass on the spa services. The other negative was that the pool area is unimpressive- just three simple rectangular pools. The worst part was the construction noise from the new tower that was going up right next to the pool area - it was extremely loud. If the pool and spa experience is important to you I suggest a different hotel unless they can assure that things will be back to normal by then.

We loved the suites at TheHotel-they were very plush.Livingroom has floor to ceiling windows, large plasma tv, mahogany desk with leather chair, pullout sofa, and another chair. Also granite wetbar. Bedroom has another plasma tv, lots of storage, floor to ceiling windows, and a bed that is so comfortable. Bathroom is huge with another plasma tv, soaking tub, seperate shower, lots of granite and marble. Thehotel has its own coffee bar and cafe, and conected to the Mandalay bay by a hallway that comes out next to the sports bar and right into the casino. The color scheme is on the dark side with splashes of color thrown in,but is actually very soothing after coming in from all the lights and noise of the strip.

Not to confuse Joy's post...
But is the Venetian not considered in the same league as these hotels? I'd always heard the standard rooms at the Venetian were the largest "standard" on the strip, and had the nicest bathrooms!
And isn't Mandaly Bay the big "family hotel" with the wave pool?
Thanks to anybody who can straighten me out!

Of your choices, I'd pick Bellagio. I've stayed at THEhotel and was underwhelmed, but I'm not a big lover of trendy hotel rooms. Give me traditional luxury any day. My favorite's the Venetian, it's definitely in the same league as Bellagio. It was the only hotel in Vegas my kids were impressed by!

I haven't stayed the Four Seasons but have stayed at the other two. I would suggest The Venetian. All the rooms are suites and they are beautiful. Alot better than Bellagio and their spa is unreal. Good Luck!

The Venetian is also a nice choice. As for room space, our room at Bellagio was quite large and overlooked the pools. I can't imagine hearing noise from construction, but I guess it could depend on where your room is located.

Joy, I think we are all a little overly picky because all the hotels you mention will be fine. Location on Bellagio and Venetian is better (IMHO) simply because they are very central to the strip. Have fun! We go every year- we are THAT addicted!
