1st time - June vacation/wild horses
Hello, I am just doing research for a first time trip to this area, any advice on where to stay, sites to see, I am taking my mom and she has difficulty walking and I also have a 5 year old, would like to be right on the beach, or as close to it as possible, and have an ocean view/balcony. Also, I have heard that we might catch a glimpse of wild horses in the State park, is that true? Thanks in advance

You already have responses on your other thread on the same topic - no need to start a brand new thread.

No, the outer banks are North Carolina. Maryland is Maryland.
I was guessing you meant outerbanks, NC since you had other questions about NC. Nowhere in this thread do you mention NC, MD, or any other location besides ocean, horses, and state park.

What? Do you own a globe?
Ocean City Maryland and the Outer Banks of North Carolina are in two different states.
Here is a good place to start.

Well duh? J62 & Gotravel, that is the whole point of my second post, because your reply was writhe with sarcasm, I responded in kind and now GOTRAVEL, has sarcasm too. Also, AM I, OR AM I NOT, IN THE UNITED STATES SECTION OF FODORS, UNDER THE STATE OF "MARYLAND" vs. my post earlier in January in the "NORTH CAROLINA" section? Testy, testy. Its a shame that people have to get so nasty on a search that should be pleasant and enjoyable. One where it is already a struggle to find a vacation spot with a mother who can hardly walk and a toddler who is on cancer treatment drugs and cannot come in contact with tons of people. Is it your personal jobs to answer every post that comes up? If so, I am sorry that Fodor's has bad representatives. Best of luck on your travel searches, maybe the next victim of your sarcasm, will be more willing to be kicked in the gut, but since I am kicked there every day with the burdens I carry, you can GO... travel...

You are not. There are no sections. When you choose a state, that is just for search/sort purposes.
Board readers are looking at a list for the entire US, and you must include your location in the text of your title or at least in the post itself. The people that you were so rude to are regular posters who know how the board works.

Here is an example of a post meant to be helpful (perhaps spiced with a touch of sarcasm) posted by a regular poster who KNOWS what she is talking about and is still offering help:
"What? Do you own a globe?

Here is a good place to start. . ."
Here is an example of a post that is totally rude and nasty:

Best of luck on your travel searches, maybe the next victim of your sarcasm, will be more willing to be kicked in the gut, but since I am kicked there every day with the burdens I carry, you can GO... travel.."
I hope you are able to see the difference. Pot calling kettle. . .

Anonymous was correct in telling you that your post will not show up under Maryland unless someone clicks on Maryland on the pull down menu. It is a common mistake to believe otherwise.
You will have a better chance of seeing wild horses at Assateague than you would at the Outer Banks. You can stay in a hotel in Ocean City Maryland and then drive the short distance to the National Park at Assateague. Your other option is to stay in Chincoteague and drive to the Virginia portion of Assateague.

If you will look at the posts you will see that almost all of them list either a state or a city - so people know wheat the hell they are asking about.
If you did not understand that all US posts go on the same board - sorry - but that is not our fault - for not reading instructions or looking at the other posts.'
As with all boards people use different tones in providing corrective info.
If you're going to be supersensitive about people trying to clarify what you mean - then get all your ducks in a row before you ask questions.

nls,
Ocean City, MD is a favorite vacation spot for our family. Salsbury, MD is the closest airport. We usually fly to BWI, because we enjoy the drive over the Chesapeake Bay. (about 2 1/2-3 hours using new expressway)
We prefer to stay on the Boardwalk (27th street or lower) or a block off to be close to all the activity. Rates are lower and its quieter on the North end above the boardwalk. A trolley runs the length of the boardwalk and they offer a multi-use pass.
Our two favorite spots are:
Americana Hotel Condos(6th St/1 block off the beach/ocean and bay view from balcony) http://www.theamericanahotel.com/
Stowaway Grand, on the boardwalk at 21st. The building is bowed, so the best views are in the middle. Fairly quiet from the 5th floor and up.
We also love the Lankford Hotel for the historic ambience. Right on the boardwalk with rockers on the big front porch.
http://www.ocean-city.com/has lots of information. The chamber of commerce does a very detailed travel planner.
Assateague Island is about a 20 min. drive from Ocean City. We have never failed to see wild horses from the car as well as a variety of other wildlife. The park service offers several acivities.
The Assateague Adventure is a boat tour from the pier in Ocean City to the back side of Assateague Island. Lots of hands on activities for your 5 year old and a lovely tour with limited walking for your Mom.
Hope this helps.
