Your favorite USA car rental company

I don't generally travel in USA.

What is your favorite car rental company based on getting what you reserve with no billing surprises?

You will get more replies if you post this on the United States board.

I use Enterprise for local rentals and whatever hotwire.com comes up with for long distance.

I use Alamo primarily because at many airports they have self check-in kiosks. I can not understand why it takes so long at the car rental counter, usually when I am tired from travel and just want a car. If you register for their preferred card (free) it is even faster and you get car choice in your category.

We have not had good experiences with Enterprise, mostly because of car availability. And their "we pick you up" promise has messed us up a few times, since it seems they pick you up only if the office is fully staffed that day.

We like Enterprise the best. Usually booking through Costco.com for the best deal. They give a discount and a free upgrade.

agree for the most part on Costco for best deals. However I was checking for a car in San Diego thru Costco which I always use and actually found it cheaper elsewhere which surprised me. On the whole it is the best. They also waive any "extra driver fee" like Hawaii has.

I like Avis. I use Google to find a good AWD code to knock the price down by 30% or more and I prepay which saves more money.
