Hotels in Barcelona

I am going on a Mediterranean cruise departing from BARCELONA and need ideas on hotels. I have done extensive research and wonder if it's a must to stay at a hotel close to Las Ramblas or if using the metro is a doable thing in order to save money. I have noticed how the hotels close to Las Ramblas are charging considerable more for their location. Some people say the Las Ramblas area is very noisy and to stay away at a
more peaceful area.

I have four possibilities:

Hotel 1898, Hotel U232, Hotel Barcelona Catedral and Hotel Acta Atrium Plaza. The 1898 is the most expensive but right in Las Ramblas and it is considered one of the best 4 star in Barcelona. The U232 has an awesome review and it is half as much and also a 4 star, but it is farther out and I will have to use the metro,

Any help from people that know Barcelona and can give me some tips will be greatly appreciated.

Try the Rivoli on the Ramblas www.rivolihotels.com or the Royal www.hroyal.com

They're both on the Ramblas just down from the Placa de Catalunya. I've stayed in them both, never been disturbed by any noise and found them both perfectly placed.

I stayed in Barcelona 2 yrs ago for a girlie weekend. Hotel was small but very clean. Not far from Las Rambles and close to the port. Maybe ten minute walk to each. It was less touristy so places to eat where much cheaper we had a great stay here. The hotel is Apsis Millenni www.hotel-millenni.com/ - situated on Ronda de Saint Pau check it out yourself and have a lovely time
