Transfer from Cuzco Airport to Sacred Valley

We are heading straight to the Sacred Valley from the airport then catching Cuzco later in our trip. We are staying at Tambo del Inka out in Urubamba for 3 nights then moving to Olly for another 2. What is the best way to get out to the SV? I understand it takes about 1 1/2 hours. Would we get ripped off hiring a taxi at the airport? We don't want to take a bus.

Your more likely to be ripped off by the hotel. What are they asking?

Tambo Del Inka charges $80 for a one-way transfer from the airport to the resort. I think we will likely look for a cheaper alternative.

Yeah def a ripoff. That's actually the highest price I've ever seen quoted. Taxi transfer should be about 70 soles, be sure you agree on the price with the driver. Even 90 soles ($30-ish USD, far less than the hotel is asking). Also sounds like you will want to establish a relationship with a taxi driver if you want to leave the property, the hotel may be doing the same 3x standard charges for short distance trips and tours. Do not worry about the "rogue taxi" issue just pick a nice looking car and an older driver, which I'm sure you will do anyways.

Thanks for the info. I got the $80 quote and that seems outrageous. I was more worried about the "rogue taxi" as you mentioned but will just be cautious.
