Still Planning But Getting Close!
Hello, I need some expert help…
We have 6 days in the Pucon area. We will have a rental car driving from Bariloche. I have reserved 3 nights which includes New Years Eve in Pucon at Aldea Naukana Posada Boutique. I am finding that Pucon is very expensive at this time and wondering if you have ideas for an alternative for the first 3 days. Villarica maybe? Also any lodging ideas appreciated. We generally like a Hosteria or BandB type place $100 or less. We plan on hiking, kayaking, road tripping, etc in the area. Not totally enamored with moving 2x in 6 days but the Aldea's prices for 6 nights is too much for us. We did want to be in Pucon for the NYE festivities.
We plan on leaving Pucon and heading back to Bariloche to catch a bus to Puerto Madryn the next day which means driving on New Year's Day. Is this a bad move? I think it is only a 5 hour drive and we will fill up the car before leaving Pucon but wondering if any services on the road will be open.
Thanks for all your help. This trip has morphed several times but I think we are in the finale.

We stayed here in Villarica and had a great time. I think it works for your budget

I stayed here in Pucon: http://www.geronimo.cl/en-us/el-host...ger-a-nimo.htm
I had a view room, but no view as the clouds never lifted. I'd stay there again, but it was OK rather than great. This is my TA review:

We stayed at http://www.tetera.cl which was basic but very acceptable. Great value at around $50.
I imagine NYE in Pucon would be really something!
Re your onward trip to Bariloche. I know it can be done quite quickly via Ruta 40 but the longer route via San Martin de Los Andes ( a great little town!) down through the seven lakes area to Angostura is very beautiful and even worth an overnight along the way. Just a thought..
