Apartments in Arequipa
We are thinking of taking a break from moving around for a few weeks and renting an apartment in Arequipa. We will then use that as abase to do some trekking around Colca and Cotahuasi canyons and maybe even attempt El Misti if we feel energetic!
Anyone have any ideas as to where to look for an apartment rental because I am struggling. The only one I have found so far is airbnb.

Sorry Crellston, however I did saw that there is a big conference in Arequipa between 14 to 21 September so avoid that week.
Maybe some of the language schools would know of a place?
I did like the towns around Chivay/Colca canyon (Yanque is particularly nice) maybe you would want to split your time between the two places? I think I've read that you can find homestays upon arrival (not swearing to it)

Thanks to both of you. Challapampa looked very interesting but the places available were too big. Finally managed to book a nice place via airbnb. Seemed a relatively painless process ( but then it was my wife that was sorting it out so I didn't have to do that much!). We could only get it from 22 Sept for two weeks, so will probably follow your suggestion mlgb and find somewhere out in one of the towns around Colca or Chivay. Also keen to do some hiking in Colca or Cotahuasi.
Thanks for the heads up on the mining convention! Lets hope the town survives! I just need to make sure we can get a bus ok into Arequipa on the 22 nd from Arica. I am hoping that the departing miners will all be going in the opposite direction to us!
