Anniversary Trip to Peru

Ok, so we're taking our 10 yr anniv trip to Peru for 8 days - we're planning on a couple of days in Sacred Valley with day trip to MP, and a day or so in Cusco. I'd like to do 1 other place but really can't decide between the Amazon, Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon, or Paracas (Nazca Lines, Pisco distilleries, the Islas Ballestas (the poor man’s Galapagos??)).

We're not backpackers and since it's a special occasion we're going to splurge on good hotels and nice restaurants. And this is the probably the only time we're going to Peru.

What 3rd place in Peru do you recommend?

Honestly I think 8 days is just about right for the Sacred Valley, MP, Cusco and LIma without adding another destination. You could do Ballestas from Lima.

I agree with mlgb that 8 days is a good time for what you have planned. However, if you are prepared to sacrifice time in these locations you could fly to Puerto Maldonado and stay in a lodge nearby.

Alternatively, you could drive over the Andes from Cusco or Pisac and stay at Cock of the Rock Lodge for a couple of nights (or one of the others nearby lodges) and explore the Madre de Dios River and riverside rainforest with a local guide. Check http://www.tropicalnaturetravel.com/..._the_rock.html for more information.

Happy planning,

Pol
