2-3 day biking itinerary help - outside of Copenhagen in late August

Hi - I am meeting some friends in Copenhagen in late August for 4-5 days. I thought I might enjoy doing some biking elsewhere before I meet them. We studied in Copenhagen in the spring of ‘88 but rarely left the city or its environs.

Any suggestions on another area to spend a couple of days where I can bike?

Cheers!

So I'm guessing you are 55, do you bike a lot or just a bit?

Roskilde, the Cathedral and the boat museum are an obvious first start. We stayed right down on the dock at the local Hostel and loved it and its views. Hard to believe such a great place exist for a very reasonable price.

You could then pop up to Frederikssund Viking Village.

Alternatively you could go over to Fyn and do a tour of the islands south of there, a bit empty but pleasant enough with small towns.

At no time, did I feel at all unsafe cycling in Denmark, the roads and paths are fantastic. Very few hills and I, like everyone else felt there was no need for cycle helmets. If only my daily commute was as good as this.

@bilboburgler Thank you! I am married to a Dutch guy and bike a lot (luckily we live in Williamsburg, VA where we can do that). Thanks for your suggestions. I’ll check them out and really appreciate your response and ideas!

That explains your user name . Is your husband from Weesp?

The Danish tourist board has a section on cycling in Denmark: https://www.visitdenmark.com/denmark/things-do/cycling

Been looking at it myself over the last few days.
