And so the trip of a lifetime begins ……

Being trying for ages to rent this place.

in the middle of nowhere …,Moidart, included - one bedroom, one wife, one dog, one bottle of Talisker and journey through snowy Gelncoe to get there and no bugger else.

I cancelled an 18 hour flight and a boring Thai 5 star resort in favour of peace and tranquillity.

the trip report starts from Boxing Day …..after I’ve been nice to the relatives on Christmas Day.

Starrs - People have been so badly behaved since Covid , couldn’t cope an 18 hour flight. Need the company of Sea Eagles , Pine Martens and Otters.

Soooo Jealous! Only been out on the tip of Moidart once. Did a walk along the river and to Castle Tioram, then took the Kilchoan to Tobermory ferry

Looks wonderful! Currently on holiday in Scotland, also in the middle of nowhere overlooking a loch and just my husband and a kindle for company.
Couldn’t be happier.

Janis

I thought you might know it, the cottage is on the track to the castle just at the point where the Shiel meets the mean high water mark - as a result the wildlife watching is great. We love this area, off the beaten track. We have rented a house in SC with a similar setting - the dolphins and eagles came in every day to feed. I’ve seen wildlife on 5 continents and the Artic circle but nothing beats your own wildlife.

Richard Branson’s sister (Vanessa) owns the island opposite with a few lovely rentals but they are too isolated - access by small boat only!

Morgana

where are you?

I think we all need a break in the wilds -:it’s been an odd year. Interest rates, fuel costs, haves and have nots, post Covid - it’s is been a socially nasty year generally.

Looks fantastic! Also looks better than an 18-hour flight anywhere.

The place looks great! It's nice to seek tranquility through nature. I love how green the trees are, hope you enjoy your journey! Would be nice to get away from the city and enjoy the fresh air

Just seeing the serenity of the photo brings a sense of peace. Wonderful to have that to look forward to.

Today's Times has a lovely article about a walk past the castle and your cottage

Not sure if this is behind a pay wall but if not: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/w...oram-cx5wrrmqs
