I answered your other thread. I think it would be good if you ask this question once you've decided between Napa and Paso.

I am not an expert in any way, shape or form.
But I've been tripping down Memory Lane today, remembering our central coast winery trip.

Since no one has made specific suggestions yet, here's what we enjoyed. I played around with maps but realized I probably had the info in my trip report - from years ago.

I loved Peachy Canyon in Templeton, especially their viognier.

We drove up the hill, looking for a recommended winery and stopped at Jan Kris. We had an amazing port there, but it is no longer. I thought I could figure out what's there now and the address of Jan Kris confirmed it.

Bethel Road sounds interesting.

"WE ARE OPEN FOR TASTINGS!
Located just off Highway 46 West in the heart of Paso Robles wine country, Bethel Rd. is the perfect spot to enjoy craft spirits and wine in a cozy and inviting setting. The vineyard views are breathtaking and the fruits of our labor are top notch!"

But this morning I was looking for the port and found this nearby -
Rotta

On our wandering day, we found the winery Fodors folks had suggested -
Castora Cellars -
https://castorocellars.com/

Looping back around, the winery/ distillery at 1266 Bethel Rd (where Jan Kris was) is...
"The distillery and winery is run by the Udsen family of Castoro Cellars, who are pioneers of Paso Robles wine country. Creativity and community are at the center of the Bethel Rd. mission with the goal being to manifest a space that is both inviting and inspirational."

We ate at Villa Creek in Paso Robles. I learned that it closed in 2019 after 19 years.

In that space is this restaurant -
The Alchemist Garden -

I have no idea if it's as good as Villa Creek was.

I have no idea if the wineries mentioned are anywhere close to "the best".

But we had such a great time. Maybe I'll circle back and revisit that loop again.

The Peachy Canyon website says they are the Central Coast Winery of 2023 -

I suggest browsing the offical Paso website (pasowine.com) using the alpha listing. Some are by reservation only including Eberle which used to be drop in. Seems like tasting fees start at about $20 these days.

I like Opolo.

I've stayed a few times at the Adelaide Inn (eg when going up for Sensorio). I generally find Paso too hot but I guess that's good for some grapes.
