We have friends that left today for a trip and texted that they were glad they were flying into Liberia because all the San Jose flights had been cancelled.

The airport is open again tonight, but they're saying it will be several days before the backlog of stranded passengers can get out. A few people are trying to bus it to Panama or Nicaragua and leave from there.

It's been windy and cold in San Jose all week, even before the eruptions. March usually starts to get very warm, but it's been very chilly. The wind has accelerated the cloud of ash moving in, and the air quality is not good. Lots of people are wearing masks and going to pharmacies to buy eye drops and cough syrups. The sky was this eerie gray yesterday afternoon. I'd never seen anything like it.

Another eruption took place at 9:17 tonight, a little under two hours ago. Cameras show an incandescent glow coming from the volcano.

The airport is open and running, but several flights are still being cancelled tonight.

Here's the webcam, if you tune in at night you can see the glow!

Wow, that's amazing - thanks for posting. I wonder if there will be visible lava flow.

They're starting to clear out the backlog of stranded passengers today. The news says that everyone should be able to get out by Tuesday. It's a hardship for people who have to be somewhere or have to fork out money for extra hotel nights.

And it's an especially popular time to visit since Spring Break just started.

Hello

Turrialba Volcano is calm right now, however, specialists today said that this week it could erupt again since one of the faces of the volcano still throwing gasses. If you are in Costa Rica, i suggest to go and watch this beautiful moment.

The weather was great at Panama Beach we would have never know about the volcano if I hadn't been flipping channels before supper.
