My husband and I are booked at the Aventura Palace Hotel in November, which is an adults only hotel. I have heard that there is alot of topless bathing in this area.I didn't realize this when I booked the trip.Should I be prepared for this? Any advice from someone out there. Or any basic advice about this hotel. Thanks for anything that might help.

I don't know of Aventura Palace, but the area of Playa del Carmen caters to the European crowd who are a lot less uptight about toplessness than we Yanks are. They don't flaunt their bare nakedness, just hang out (no pun intended!) at the beach like everyone else. We were not uncomfortable at all - once you see a few it is no big deal. I was more perturbed by the old guys in Speedos. Yuck. The majority of the topless women were very attractive. Those European women don't have as many ribs as we do; there is no way they can be so thin!

As the above poster stated, yes you'll see topless sunbathing/swimming in the Playa area, but there will be far more WITH tops than without. <BR>Enjoy your trip!

Mexicans do not approve of public nudity. <BR>They *tolerate* European behavior understanding that those Europeans are ignorant of the culture of the country and the people of Mexico.

We went to this resort last year in December. Excellent resort, with great food, large rooms and relaxing & quiet resort. As at most resorts in the south, there is topless sunbathing. The amount at the resort was limited. Highly recommend the resort. <BR>We enjoyed it so much last year, we are booked in the new Spa Palace which is next door, for late November.
