Robert's Grove & Getting Around?

Hi All,

Very excited about leaving for Palencia and Robert's Grove next Wednesday, the 27th. I'm a little confused on the availability of restaurants and such within walking distance of Robert's Grove. We are flying down from Belize City and will be without transportation. When we booked I thought it was a little closer to Palencia Village, but now see that it is not. Any insight into our choices? We are two families traveling together, 5 girls age 9 - 14.

Thanks,
Denise

Robert's Grove is terrific -- especially the new deluxe suites, which are well worth the extra money -- and I'm sure you will enjoy your stay there.

The restaurant at Robert's Grove is excellent, one of the best in Belize, so you likely will eat there quite a bit. The restaurants at Kitty's and Luba Hati are not too far away. You can take a taxi into Placencia village if you want to eat there. Placencia village is still pretty beaten up, but north of the village, except for Seine Bight village, things are more back to normal.

I personally always drive to Placencia, as it's handy to have a car on the peninsula and to do trips around the area.

Say hello to Robert and Risa for me.

--Lan Sluder
Belize First
www.belizefirst.com

RG is opening it's next restaurant on the lagoon side. I believe it will be called Habaneros and think it'll favor Mexican flavored foods. Not sure of an opening date, but soon.
Katie
It usually takes me a full day to drive, because there are so many interesting places to stop along the way, people to see, new places to visit.

But if you go non-stop via the Hummingbird (a little longer than the so-called coastal road but much more scenic and the road is paved)it's probably 3 1/2 hours, roughly 140 miles. It's a good to excellent paved two-lane road all the way except for the last 22 miles or so from the cut-off on the Southern Highway.

--Lan Sluder
