Puerto Vallarta - drug lords?

Hello! It has been two years since our last trip to PV. I've heard lately, (from people who haven't been there) that there are drug lords causing a lot of trouble in many areas of Mexico. Is PV one of them?

Don't listen to people who haven't been here and believe everything they see in the media.

No.

I know this is a rumor out & about a couple places on the internet lately, but it is NOT true according to people who live in Vallarta.

i live, work and sell tours in puerto vallarta & most of the tourist areas in mexico...cabo, mazatlan, p.v., playa del carmen & cozumel. i travel to all of those places constantly. the only problem we have in any of them is bad publicity, generated by a lot of people up north that are up north. truly unfortunate. we are also suffering from the public hysteria about swine flu, & it has had a double whammy effect on all of us.
this is the time to come visit us, now is when we really need people to come & see for themselves how beautiful, safe & spectacular mexico really is.

mexicofun, So why top this old post? You're hardly helping the cause!! Maybe you could instead start a new post with a postive title for your message? because I couldn't agree more with what you are saying, and it's important to get the word out, but not by bringing up PV Drug Lords which don't exist.

I just returned from a short trip to Puerto Vallarta, where I can say that there wasn't the slightest hint of any drug-related violence. P.V. has been and remains unaffected by the drug problems faced by BORDER towns.
