I hear that the Portofino resort has opened. Does anyone have any information on it?

Where did you hear that it had opened? Martin Hoffman, the manager, told me a couple of days ago that the new opening date, already postponed several times, is 28 September. When I was there about a month ago, the place looked like it would take months before it was ready to open -- basically it was just a few shells of buildings -- but maybe they have worked miracles. <BR> <BR>--Lan Sluder <BR>Belize First Magazine

I was basing that on the last opening date that I heard which was 9/15. I went ahead a reserved a room at Victoria House for 11/4 - 11/10 instead of taking the chance at Portofino. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake.

The new opening date for Portofino is October 10, although with Hurricane Iris bearing down on Belize I don't think that date will hold. <BR> <BR>--Lan Sluder
