Playa del Carmen/ book online or with TA

my husband and I are going to go to Playa del Carmen in November. I am torn with booking the jetblue vacation or wih TA. Here's the deal... Same resort

Jet Blue. One flight there, one fllight home, but direct. No others for the day. 200-300 cheaper

Travel Agent. many flights to choose from, none direct. Obviously more $$

What would you do? direct and hope no issues with the flight, or take a connection and hope no issues wih connection?

Thanks again!

Personally I wouldn't do either. Have you checked prices on your own? With the airlines and with the hotel?

Also when you say "direct", make sure it is a true "non-stop". The term direct can have still include an airport connection, if it's the same flight number, same airline.

If you mean "non stop" flight, I would always book "non-stop" before connecting flights. Less chance of luggage getting lost/delayed, less hassle, less time. If the flight gets delayed, you don't miss your connecting flight because there isn't one.

Always go non-stop if you can. I am going to Playa del Carmen in November too, using Alaska Air from LAX to Cancun. Great price too. Because of the slow economy they now only fly a few days a week (last year it was every day), so you have to arrange your vacation days around flights now, not the other way around. I compare all flights at a site like Travelocity, but make the purchase at the actual airline site. I seldom find much difference in price, and if you have any flight problems, you'll be MUCH better served by having dealt directly with the airline (same for hotel reservations). If you can't do a non-stop, be aware that even single-stop flights can add as much as 8 hours to your time getting to Cancun, depending on where that stop is.

Use Kayak.com to check on all possible flights. As stated before, you must check not only the price, but how long the fly time is. I may find a website that offers me $$ less for a flight, but it may mean a 12 hour layover. Where are you coming from?

www.bookit.com usually best PDC AI packages including air.

Amazing value sometimes

TA owned by www.expedia.com rarely cheap...

No reason to pay an agent.
