Help with Travel to Honduras

HI.
Does anyone know if we can travel from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba in one day? Also, how does one travel form La Ceiba to Roatan? Then, finally, are there any direct flights to the U.S. from Roatan?

Thanks

You can fly from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba in half an hour - many flights a day. Alternately, buses take about 3 hours; I use Hedman Alas buses in Honduras and here is their website:

http://hedmanalas.com/

You can fly to Roatán from La Ceiba and from San Pedro Sula (stops in La Ceiba), or there's a nice ferry to Roatán twice a day from La Ceiba. The airport, bus station, and ferry terminal aren't close together but taxis are available. There are limited flights from Roatán to the US but I can't help with details. The owner of the Coco Pando hotel near La Ceiba has a website with lots of great links including transportation ones:

www.cocopando.com

I spent just over 2 weeks in the Copán Ruinas area in 2005 and 4 weeks last summer between La Ceiba, Utila, and Roatán - let me know if you'd like to read travelogues or have questions.

Happy trails!

J - Delta (from Atlanta), Continental (from Houston) and Grupo TACA (www.taca.com, from Miami) all have weekly weekend flights direct to Roatan.

Thanks for all your help. Just found out that Continental flies directly to San Pedro Sula from Newark and directly to Roatan.

J - My apologies for getting my airlines mixed up. Continental was what I should have said rather than Delta on that direct out of NJ.

Have fun!

My group just travelled from La Ceiba to SAP by a bus service I booked through Mayan Carribean Travel. It took about 3 hours and the roads were decent.

Delta has very nice service from Atlanta to SAP. Meals are included -- which is rare these days!
