first night in c.r

I don’t want to spend my first night in san jose, my flight lands at 14:00 and I need a place not too far because I also need to collect a rental car. I’m looking for a relaxed place to start quietly my vacation.

I spend my first & second night at Lands in Love hotel and resort. The drive there is quite good in compare to the average road in CR, and take only 75 minutes from the airport. The view is magnificent, going along the mountains.
The hotel is located in the middle of a cloud forest, in a valley surrounded by mountains. The experience of waking up in the morning looking at the forest so close to our front porch was amazing. There are many things to do there, forest trails, canopy, horseback riding and more. The staff made our stay there very pleasant, the rooms are very beautiful and clean and the food is varied and is very good and fresh. This genuine CR spot is the best head start you can get for a good trip and the prices are fair they even have a special discount for forum members... we;l i dont remember thier web-site now but google for lands in love hotel and resort to get more info

After that i went to Hotel Southland Guanamar in playa Samara- very beautiful and romantic hotel near the beach stayed there for few days and enjoyed every minute prices there are quite goo d too.
just google for Hotel Southland Guanamar to get all the detayls you need.

Depends what your budget is & what you're looking for on-site. Often mentioned here are Xandari, Orquideas Inn, Buena Vista, Don Carlos hotel & Vista del Valle.

We like Hotel Villa Bonita as well. Small bed and breakfast 5 min from airport, operated by a very nice young Tico (Costa Rican) couple, Humberto and Carmen. Also like Orquideas Inn, but HVB is less $$, if you're wanting less expense. About $50 per night.

Orquideas is about 15 min. from the airport. Not far from the international highway that will take you toward your first exit (at San Ramon) up to Arenal. You can also get on the highway to Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens right there outside the Orquideas entrance gate (this is an alternative route to Arenal should you wish to make these two popular stops on the way). Most direct route--through San Ramon. Both are quite scenic.

Don't know what Hotel Cal's rate are at the present, but they will be affordable. We thought it was an excellent value. Seems like we paid about $70 a couple of years ago.

GIMcGuire,
I see alot of dogs with the staff in photos on the Lands In Love website.
Are there many dogs onsight?
They can really detract from the peace if they are prone to barking and howling or pestering ones privacy.
Thanks.

GIMcGuire,

Is Lands in love is a real cloud forest? or it's just a rain forest? and are there any birds out there?

Adam Roy,
If you want cloudforest and birds consider Bosque De Paz. It is about 2 hours from the airport north. Maybe too far for your first night though.

We stayed twice at Las Colinas del Sol, 20 minutes from the airport in Atenas. Very relaxing, cheap, outdoor cafe and pool on premises.
