We want to go to Amazon zone (better boat or resort?), Fernando de Noronha, Lenços Maranienses and perhaps Porto preto (does it worth?). We have plenty of beach and good weather at home, so we prefer more animals and landscapes.Thenks

hi, right, if you really want to see animals you should be checking out the pantanal much more than the amazon. I have been to the amazon various times and you really dont see as much as expect, dont forget the birds and monkeys etc are in the trees, the water level varies 14 meters during the year, birds tend to congregate near tops of trees as do the animals, only coming to the river( the ones who eat fish ) to eat. You'll see capivara and caiman close up, and maybe monkeys, but if you go to pantanal the vegetation is a lot lower and you should see a lot more and in bigger quantities. There are great tours there. Fernando de Noronha is beautiful but is mostly beach and surf, beautiful sure but not much to do. Lencios - spectacular, porto preto? Not sure of this, do you mean ouro preto, the colonial mining town? If so lovely. And good food in this region. Let me know if you need any lideas.

Thanks for your help. I was thinking in Pantanal, too, but we won't have so much time and we have to choose. I think that Amazon is a must, isn't it?
Yes, I was talking about ouro preto (better amazon and pantanal than this?)
I have another questions: Do you recommend to book the excursions in advance or better when we arrive there? Any tour operator recommendations? And finally: I was told that pousadas are OK for families, do you think that children will be ok?

If you go to a tree top lodge in the Amazon you can see many animals. There are lodges with over 7 miles of canopy walk-ways near Manaus. Yes, if you stay on ground level you will be limited to straining your head to catch a glimpse in the top of the trees. But if you are actually walking on catwalks at tree top level, you will be able to see and photograph many animals and birds.
