Does anyone know how to stay for free in Costa Rica?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to travel to Costa Rica with a friend soon. We are looking for free hotel stay anywhere in Costa Rica. Is there a website that provides these kinds of deals?

Thank you in advance!

I found Costa Rica usually behind in terms of marketing and good offers online. The only site that I found that is similar to what you're asking for is a website called Costa Rica Beauty. They offer a free hotel stay or restaurant meals in costa rica each week. It's like a weekly lottery. You have to join their group on facebook and vote for pages using the facebook Like button. Here's their facebook and main site:

http://www.facebook.com/crbeauty (english)
http://www.facebook.com/costaricabeauty (spanish)
http://www.costaricabeauty.com

I've joined and have seen a few people win so far. Other than this site, I've seen that some hotels offer special deals like 10-20% discounts during low season.

You could also try couch surfing ... not a hotel, but for some people a good way to stay free and meet new friends. Just google "couchsurfing" and then go to Costa Rica.

I am a little unsure of how you want to stay for free??? You could possible look into volunteering in exchange for a room.

www.hospitalityclub.org

free eats stays with locals

up to 3 days also volunteering ops

will let you stay for free sometimes.

Hotels are for profit none let you stay "for free"

without a catch...

There are some time share scams that will give you

really cheap stays for listening to and being harassed

to buy a time share comes to mind.

www.ebay.com travel has a fair number of scammers doing that

If you are so broke you cannot pay for a budget hotel room

www.moon.com has many you probably need to revise your plan.

Does it have to be in a hotel? How about camping?

Thank you everyone for your comments. I was recommended to visit http://www.costaricabeauty.com. I checked that website and their Facebook profiles. This company seems legitimate. I found out that they are recognized by the Costa Rica Hotel Association (http://costaricanhotels.com/travel_links.html). So, I think that I found exactly what I am looking for
