When we were in Cuzco, and needed to find a driver to the sacred valley, we went to the Monastario Hotel (the nicest in town) and asked them to find us a driver. We were not staying there but they didn't seem to know or mind. We asked the porter outside the hotel.

I don't remember the exact cost. It was 4 years ago. About $30 seems about right. We went to Ollantaytambo and stayed at the El Alberque hotel, which I would highly recommend. They are located right at the railroad tracks. You just get up in the morning, walk out the lobby door and you are on the train platform. Wendy Weeks who owns the place, is a great host, as are the rest of the staff.

Thanks for the info. It helped me determine if it was possible to find a driver or not. And we did. I searched and found a driver to take us from Cusco to Ollanyta and then we get on the train to spend the night in Aguas C.
By the way. The train web site has not been letting me book online, so I finally emailed them directly.
This is their reply (I know it's off subject of this forum thread, it's just a F.Y.I. on the train)

"Please let me explain you that most of the problems when making reservations by our web are because of the following reasons:
1.- We only accept VISA credit cards affiliated to Verified by Visa, a no cost service provided by Visa to protect the information of the card-holder while traveling through the Internet. So, if the clients’ credit card is not affiliated, they won't be able to complete the transaction by the web.
2.- There are many transactions started by the web that are not completed, provoking a big problem to the system.
Anyway, in order to help our guest, we will be more than glad in assisting with the reservation if you could send us the following information:
Number of passengers (Specify: adults / children)
Date of departure :
Date of return :
Service :
Route :
We will be more than glad to send you the confirmation of the reservations and will also advice you about how to pay procedure, due to we do not accept credit cards if the transaction is not by the web.
Thank you again for your support in this matter.
Best regards,

It is difficult to get the "Visa verified" option. Citibank doesn't even understand it!!!!!! So that may be your problem. I spent a good bit of time trying to get these tickets and finally had to have a friend do it that could have the "visa verified". That may be your problem. Good luck
