Buenos Aires - $150 Hotel?
We're travelling to BA this fall and need to locate a reasonably priced hotel in Recoleta ($150-$200 including taxes and service) - small to medium, European style, very close location so we can walk to all the interesting places. Whatever advice you could provide would help us greatly. Many thanks, Joe and Adria, Washington, D.C.

What a lovely city. We stayed at the Park Hyatt, walked everywhere. You don't get much of a deal in Argentina, because they keep their money pegged to ours, but the rate for a great room was $200 per night, and that was using United Airlines 50% off the RACK rate coupons, So it really isn't that big of a savings. It included a wonderful breakfast, but do not remember about taxes. It was in a great location in Recoleta, and I would highly recommend you checking it out. Also, if you cannot find a good rate on hyatt's web site, try e-mailing the hotel. I find that I can usually do better. That really is a nice place.

I just returned from Buenos Aires last week and researched our business trip for a month before we went. Stayed at 3 places that were fine for under $150. The central Park Plaza was 130 if you ask for corporate rate, but is near the Obelisk.

The Crillion was extremely comfortable, $170. Again ask for corporate rate and is $140. In Recolleta I stayed at the Hotel Plaza Francia, overlooking beautiful park and close to many museums for $140 including the whopping 21% tax.

I loved Recolleta and also looked at the Elegance Park Plaza at $145 + the tax. Absolutely elegant lobby . The whole Park Plaza chain is a bargain.

Have a good trip. Diane

Thanks to all of you who offered ideas and advice. We booked at the Plaza Franchia in Recoleta - they offered a junior suite for $157, including breakfast and all taxes. The process went smooothly - requested through FAX and exchanged e-mails. We head down in November, and I'll post some feedback when we return. Many thanks, and if you have questions about this hotel, please send me an e-mail. Joe

Hi,
I've just got back from Buenos Aires, having stayed at the Hotel Wilton Palace in Recoleta (Ave. Calloa). The hotel was on a very lively street, but most of the rooms look out to the back so were very quiet. The rooms were large, nicely decorated and immaculately clean. Breakfast was included in the price of $138 and was very good. Within walking distance of all the sights. Couldn't pick fault with it. I can't remember the web address offhand, but you can book it through hotelbook.com.
