Belize With Baby & Toddler
Is it a good idea to travel to Belize with a baby & toddler? We are looking to get away for 5-7 days in the early spring. We enjoy unique natural scenery and archaeological sights rather than the typical touristy beach resort experience. We're also not interested in a trip focused on exploring towns/restaurants/etc, having done much of this already.
I'm not sure if Belize is an appropriate destination due to two concerns. First, I don't know whether it's possible to avoid mosquitoes/other bugs carrying disease, and, second, not sure if the excursions/activities we'd want to sign up for would allow a baby & toddler (hiking, going to visit Mayan ruins, etc).
Any advice on whether Belize would be enjoyable with little ones and what areas of the country might work best? If it's not a good idea, are there alternative destinations we can look at that would be more baby-friendly, but still unique?

Belize is family friendly. Plenty of places to stay that will welcome you and can suggest tours and activities easy on a family with small kids.
On the mainland, smaller Maya sites. Butterfly and iguana breeding. Howler monkeys. River canoeing or even, Barton Creek cave canoe. Horses.
Beach-glass bottom boat, sailing, etc
Belize water and food are clean
