I will be traveling (by car) through Slovania and Croatia in September. I can fly into either Zagreb or Ljubljana and would like to know, from those who have used both, which one is prefered. I have an early morning flight on departure so I would like to pick the one that has hotels nearby. Thanks for any info.

The Zagreb airport is much closer to the city with a ton of hotel options.

We've flown into Ljubljana twice, the last time we flew in we looked for a tourist office . We could not find a hotel reservation booth, so we called a couple of the hotels listed on the board. We decided to just pick up our car earlier and leave for Croatia. I don't know about Zagreb but that was our experience in Ljubljana.

in agreement with Bob, use Zagreb as near the airport in Ljubljana there is not much.

One more question... does anyone know if it is a toll road from Zagreb to Ljubljana and if so do they accept Euros? Thanks.
