Yay! I just scored Delta FF tix to Paris on my first try!
I feel so lucky, since FF tickets usually require a lot of time spent with the ticket agent or online to find acceptable dates and times. DH and I decided to add a fall trip to Paris, and the first set of dates that I plugged in were available for SKYSAVER awards(50,000 miles roundtrip for each of us). I was even able to book the seats--exit row both ways, in a 2-3-2 configuration on a B767-300. I know some people have frustrations with booking FF tix to desirable locations, but I am really excited that this was so easy booking the online award.
Now the fun starts of planning the itinerary for the trip!

You are very lucky. I recently booked two trips with FF miles and ended up having to use 75K for both trips in order to get close to the dates I needed. On my trip to Rome in Nov. all the skysaver seats were gone and I got a seat in business class over and in coach on the way back...not bad but I am going with my daughter so we won't be sitting together on the way over (we'll be going to celebrate her 18th birthday so she can handle sitting alone). I manage to use the tickets but lately it's been having to use more miles and tranfer miles from one account to the other. Enjoy your trip to Paris!

We're going the second week of October, when the hectic summer tourist season is over and before the weather gets too cool.
I just received email confirmation for the apartment we will be renting; we've stayed there before, and we have found it perfect for our needs. It's in the 16th, right across the river from the Eiffel Tower, 50 meters from the Passy Metro stop. The buses take us everywhere, and it is within walking distance of many nice restaurants and shops.
Now I can start planning my must-do sights; every time I go to Paris, I have a list left over from the previous time. The reading and planning are part of the fun for me, so I'm always glad to have a trip to plan. We're headed to London for a week in May, and while I don't have a day-to-day agenda planned, I do have a pretty good list of things we want to do. This board make travel planning a lot of fun.

Last weekend, on a whim I checked the Delta site for FF tix from ATL to CDG for this April and was able to get Skysaver (50k miles ea) almost any weekend I wanted from late March to early May. This is for Thursday departure and Tuesday return...I was flabbergasted. Every other time I have booked FF tix, it was a major ordeal with odd layovers.
We are going for our anniversary the 1st week of April..Free tickets and free hotel (thank you Hilton points!)....Whoo Hoo! What a pleasant surprise.

Good for you, Barb!
I did the same thing yesterday. Checked Northwest flights with award seats, found one that works for my sister and me, and booked it! Then I locked in a cute studio apartment in the 4th this morning.
We don't go until September 24th, so won't be able to pick the seats until June.
Enjoy your trip!

That's fantastic, Barb!
I was able to get 50K FF tickets back in October for a trip to Italy this late April, early May. Couldn't believe it. The next day, just for grins, I checked again, and the same flight was 100k miles.
Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks, everyone, for sharing my excitement! Planning a trip is part of the fun, and I keep an expansion file next to the computer for info that I print out and save. Right now, I have 2 going, one for London in May and one for Paris in October.
Marya- you asked what is on my pretty good list of things to do:
London(our 3rd visit):at least 2 nights at shows(I'm going to try for Wicked), a trip to Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace or Windsor, the British Museum, the National Gallery, a day in Oxford, St. Paul's Cathedral, a visit to a fresh market(need help here for ideas), a concert at St. Martin in the Fields, the natural history museum, lunch or dinner in Chinatown, possibly a second visit to Somerset House/The Courtauld Collection.
This is probably enough to keep us entertained for the week, but I keep on adding to the list.
Paris(our 5th visit): Versailles, a day in Reims, the Louvre(always), a visit to Rungis Market, Musee Carnavalet, Musee Jacquemart-Andre, Musee du Quai Branly, Petit Palais, Cathedrale St.-Denis, Vaux-le-Vicomte,and perhaps a ballet or opera performance. Also obviously plenty to stay busy for a week.
In both cases, I know we'll see and do some of the above, and then just start planning again for next time with the ones we miss.
All in all, it's a thrill to have scored the Skysaver Awards, so there are more miles left for the next trip.
