Hi Everyone,
As part of our trip to Spain next November we would like to visit some of the wineries around Ronda, as we are vineyard owners ourselves. Since we will have car for this portion of our trip I had hoped we could make a day of it and visit a few but I am not finding any that do not require a reservation. Does anybody here know of any that do not require reservations. Thank you for your help.

I think most wineries need reservations as they are not set up like Napa Valley tasting bars. They do not have the same staff approach to tend the public. I would write a few as I believe you will be given special treatment if you let them know you are also vineyard owners.

All of the bodegas around Ronda require reservations. This is not like Napa! One of the more interesting ones is Finca Descalzos Viejos (www.descalzosviejos.com). I believe the visit is €25/person, but you get to take the wines with you. The winemaker speaks excellent English and is from Chile.

Is there way to get to the winery via public transportation - it looks interesting but we won't have a car?

Actually, you can walk to the bodega, but a taxi would be quicker. You'll need to make reservations in advance as the bodega is closed to walk-in visitors.

Another excellent winery is Bodegas Conrad (www.vinosconrad.com), located just outside of Ronda at Carretera El Burgo 4km. Again, you'll need to make reservations. You can take a taxi out and back if you arrange it ahead of time.

While several of the bodegas in the area are still owned by the original families, some of the estates that had been let go have been purchased and brought back to life by owners from northern Europe, and now offer excellent wines.
