Which 2 locations on Amalfi Coast?
My husband and I are taking a 15 year anniversary/40th birthday trip to the Amalfi Coast next September. We have 7 nights to spend and want to split between 2 locations. We've narrowed it down to Positano, Capri and Ravello but having an impossible time of eliminating one of those three! I've read endless reviews and forums but hoping maybe someone can opine on our exact plans and help me decide!
We are going to stay at luxury resorts (I think I have my preferences narrowed down to Il San Pietro in Positano, Belmond Caruso in Ravello and Punta Tragara in Capri). I would say this trip is more relaxation focused that sight seeing. Of course we are in Italy and want to do a little sight seeing (will definitely do a day trip to whatever town we choose not to stay in) but we have 4 young kids and want to relax by pool/sea, take leisurely strolls, eat fabulous food, drink amazing wine and just take in the views and atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast.
One other point - we did 12 days in Italy for our honeymoon, 2 of which were in Ravello at Palazzo Sasso (now Palazzo Avino). It was a true highlight of our whole honeymoon and making it harder for me to eliminate Ravello!
So based on that description, give me any insight or opinions you might have to help me make this choice!

After reading it - if I wasn't clear. We are NOT bringing our 4 children! I was just saying we are very scheduled at home with 4 kids and do not want to be on a touring schedule our entire trip!

If your intent is really as you say, for just a week choose 1. Don't waste a day relocating. Day trips.

But what a dream trip! The pool area at the Caruso is one of the most glorious I've ever seen. But Ravello is the least appealing for great food, to me at least.
A week in Capri sounds divine. Tough call!

Just in case my post wasn't clear, I wasn't suggesting that you spend all your time in Capri (although if that appeals to you, then why not?) I was suggesting that you make Capri one of your choices, if you want 2 locations.
As for which location might your other choice, I'm not offering any opinion!

Tough call! But no bad choices. ☺
If you haven’t yet been to Capri, a few nights to see its highlights and savor the views could be well worthwhile. IME, it is much more magical after daytrippers leave, and I think it would meet your interests nicely. I will be honest, though, in saying that as much as I enjoyed my time in Capri, it didn’t match my delight in Ravello – but then, I was absolutely enamored of Ravello. It is one of the most magnificently beautiful places I have ever visited – and I’ve been fortunate enough to see some stunning places! I would think that a few days to relax in Ravello with those views, visit / revisit the Villas Cimbrone and Rufolo, maybe visit a bit more of the Amalfi Coast, could be very rewarding. I think I’d choose between Ravello and Positano based on what else you want to do on the Amalfi Coast itself, because to go to most other places on the coast from Ravello, as you know, you generally need to route through Amalfi.
Happy anniversary / birthday!

Thank you all for responses. I really appreciate it. I'm leaning towards Capri/Ravello. Ravello was absolutely magical on our honeymoon. I've just been struggling trying to decide if it's the young 23/25 year old over- romanticizing a place on their honeymoon 15 years ago. It sounds like many others also see in the magic in the place. I wish we could do 9 nights and see all 3 but That's pushing it with grandma and grandpa taking charge of 4 little ones for a week! I think we can see enough of Positano in a day trip to satisfy us, for now anyways.
I appreciate the input by all!
