A lot of my friends say that the beaches arent that nice in Europe.I haven't been to one that I did't like. If my budget can afford it, I might go to Spain and Portugal next summer. I'm just hoping the dollar won't fail this beach bum! 1.30 today. Ouch!

The most beautiful are in the Western isles of Scotland.

The warmest are in Crete and Cyprus

I've dived off Nice and St. Andrews. I would go back to both. Nice was 50° warmer.

The Algarve Beaches are nice too, esp. on the western side. In high season, they can be quite crowded though.\

I also agree with Sardinia!
Cheers,
Jan

Travelbeach; who are these friends, and how much do they travel if they feel they can make such a sweeping statement about all European beaches, from Skandinavia to Albania?

Personally, I like Pampelone beach near St Tropez!

I'm with Tulips re Plage de Pampelonne. Southern Spain (Cadiz area) and the Algarve have very nice beaches as well.
You should realize though, that you're not in the Caribbean or another exotic destination with huge palm trees and white sand.
