What to do for first 3 hours in Rome with luggage?

My husband and I just found out that we won't be able to check into the apartment we booked through the B&B Association of Rome until 12:30. Our flight arrives this Monday at 8:00 am. We'd initially planned to use a car service from the airport to our apartment, but now we're trying to come up with ideas of how to spend the time between the airport and our check-in, considering we'll have our luggage on-hand. Any ideas? How much of a hassle would it be to lock the luggage at the train station, do a bit of strolling around, and then come back for it a few hours later?

Dropping off your luggage at the train station is very simple. You'll look for the 'Deposito Baglio' (sp?) at which you can leave your bags for a small charge. However if you do plan on this, then may not be necessary to hire a car service --- it can be just as easy & less expensive to get from the airport to the train station via public transport.<BR>

Also you can ask the B&B owner to keep your bags somewhere while you have a stroll, often B&B owners and hotels do it for their gests that have a too early or too late flight. In any case, getting to Rome from the iarport by train and taking a taxi at the station will probably turn pot cheaper than taking a taxi or some other kind of car service from the airport. Check the exact address of your apartment and figure out which is the nearest train station that the train from the airport will stop at, than take a taxi (or maybe the subway) once you are at the station.

thanks for your responses! I assume then that it's perfectly secure to leave your luggage at the Rome train station? That would probably be our best option, I think.

The deposit is manned and the only problem I have ever found with it is finding it hard to collect the bags fast one day as I was already late for the train.
