We are getting married in Positano and spending 5 days there before traveling elsewhere in Italy. Can anyone recommend any great restaurants in Positano? This will be a special trip and we want some special dinners to remember it by. Tell us why it is your favorite and include some info on price range if possible. Thanks!

Hotel Palazzo Murat has great food and the restaurant is in a lovely garden.
Expensive

Hotel San Pietro has very good food, expensive, nice ambiance

Hotel Le Sirenuse, has OK food, fabulous, romantic view. Maybe just go there for drinks in the bar.

La Tagliata (sp?) above Positano has excellent pasta and beef dishes. Moderate prices, good value. They will pick you up.

Here are some of my favourites in Positano and other towns. Other than Il Ritrovo, I believe all would be between 40 - 50 Euros per person for 3 courses, without any wine or drinks.

In a lovely large tree-filled courtyard, very romantic. Enter from the hotel area to get a real sense of arrival as you walk down the candlelit stairs to the dining terrace. No water views.

Great food, interesting art which is for sale. No water view but nice small courtyard. Extensive wine list and cellar, one of their tables inside is on a glass floor over the wine cellar.

Maybe a bit more expensive than the others, but worth it, a real gourmet experience. No views as I recall unless you get a window seat, I believe their terrace looks uphill not over the water (We were there in cool weather and there was no outdoor dining that day.) They offer a free car service which will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel.

About half the price of the others mentioned here. It also offers a free shuttle from Positano. More modest décor. They have a lovely large terrace with stunning views, esp beautiful around twilight (check out sunrisesunste.com for sunset and twilight times during your visit.) It is about 50 feet from Donna Rosa.

Next door to Vila Rufolo in Ravello (through the tunnel, near to where the SITA buses stop.) Has a wonderfully panoramic terrace.

I don't think we a really bad meal in Positano, but these were by far our favorites. La Cambusa, which is right at the top of the steps that lead to the beach. The food was excellent and the view to the water beautiful. But what made it so special was the people. They treated us like gold. I'm not sure exactly why, maybe they knew (and liked) the Italian who recommended the place to us, maybe because we sent quite a few people there, or maybe because we stopped down to talk to them before we ate there. When we arrived they would immediately make a table for us outside. They were helpful and friendly in their service. Also whenever they saw us in the square, they ran over with a glass of proseco for us. I don't remember what we paid, but it was not that expensive.

I don't remember the name of the other place, but I'm sure someone will. When you are on the beach, do to your right to dock where the ferries come in. From there follow the trail up the hill and along the cliff. There is a wonderful restaurant tucked up there. The view was spectacular and you can hear the waves crashing against the rocks. It was very much a Mom and Pop place, with funny glasses and some odd plateware. But we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the people. Again, this place was not expensive either.

Dick - That could be it. It was late, dark and we were a bit tipsy, so my recollection of the outside is not perfect. But it certainly looks close to what I remember. I'll ask my husband.

San Pietro. So romantic! It is expensive but the food is top notch and the ambiance can't be beat. Ask for a table on or near the patio. If you don't have a car, you will need to take a taxi to get there from Positano proper. It's worth the expense. While the food in Positano is fresh and good, it can be overpriced in the restaurants near the beach. However, I felt San Pietro was worth every Euro!

I got back from Positano last week and my two favorite restaurants were Da Vincenzo and La Tagliata. Although I am leaning towards Da Vincenzo as my favorite because they had the most fresh, scrumptuous food. And the owner is very entertaining!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT TIPS!!! One other question...of these, which would you choose for your wedding day meal??? We are getting married September 10th at 11am. We will take some photos for a bit after the short ceremony at the town hall, then in town (Positano). Then just the two of us will head off for a special wedding luncheon...which would you choose?? We like good food, but I don't need something ULTRA gourmet. We want something romantic, beautiful and most of all memorable on this special day. We are not so concerned about price for this meal...what the heck, it's our wedding right? We will have a private driver, so location doesn't matter too much....any recommendations would be great!!! Thanks again all your fodorites!!!
