What is your favorite hotel in Athens
We will be taking a 2 week vacation on May 5 thru 19 and going from Athens to Barcelona. I am looking for your favorite hotel in Athens in this thread. I am looking for the perfect hotel that is quaint, comfortable, quiet and close to the city center at the same time. There are 2 adult couples in our group and our budget is $100 to $200 (US) per night per couple. We are a ways out from our trip so hopefully we can get a reservation at a great location. Thanks for your advice.

Hello,
I may not be the right person to suggest a hotel, but I am travelling to Athens in April and I will be staying at the Novotel Acor. It seems to be a great hotel and according to its website, "the Novotel Athens offers easy walking access to all of the important sights and attractions of Athens, such as the National Archaeological Museum, the Plaka, the Acropolis and Omonia Square. It connects to all public transport and features its own underground parking area."

We liked the Athens Cypria--very convenient to the Plaka and the changing of the guard, nice room, nice bathroom, and a view of the Parthenon from our balcony--ask for a sixth floor room with a view. In October, we paid 125 Euro.

I've stayed in the Novotel and while it's a very nice property, the location might put off some people. I'd try for something closer to Syntagma. The area's not bad and you can walk to Omonia and the NAM, but the Plaka and Acropolis need a Metro ride.
You can walk to three stops of the subway pretty easily, but none are right there. The closest is Larissis (sp), but there a nice little area near Victoria and also Omonia (longest walk).
I enjoyed the area, because I was there a long time and got to know the local shops, but it is just a little out of the tourist loop if you're looking to be in the center of it all.
Great rooftop pool and garden, though.
