What if I miss my Eurostar train?

Here's a potential worry I have...

I am arriving in London Heathrow from the US at 7am on Monday, Dec 30. I have Eurostar tickets to Paris leaving Waterloo at 10:23am. Its holiday time, and traffic should be lighter, so I have been advised to take a minicab/car service from the airport to Waterloo. I'm anticipating to be out of Heathrow by 830am (is that reasonable?), and allowing 75 min in the car to the train. I need to be at Waterloo by 9:50am.

If something gets delayed -- immigration/customs, accident on the highway, whatever -- and I miss my train... what happens? Will they allow me to be booked on a train later that day? Do lose the ticket and have to buy a new one?

Please advise.. I'm worried about the what ifs...

Also, if you can please recommend a car service for Heathrow to Waterloo International that would be great.

Thanks!

Having misssed my train before, I would recommend you get to Waterloo about 40-60 minutes prior to train departure. I think they close the gate 20 minutes prior to departure and you cannot even get into the boarding area! Then you will have to buy a new ticket. At least, that's what I think I did--I was so mad at myself that my memory is a little fuzzy!

I'm pretty sure you can still just get a new ticket/seat reservation at the station, might have been a fee? but can't really recall.

It depends on the ticket you bought. some are not changeable and/or refundable, some are not . check to see what exactly you purchased.

Hi Amy
I found a cab service at
http://www.milesfaster.co.uk/london-airport-transportation.htm.

I don't think that you will have a problem unless your plane is very late. The Heathrow/Paddington express is only 20 min.

I take the Heathrow Express because it's so much faster than a taxi, especially since you will be arriving at traffic time. Then a taxi from Paddington to Waterloo shouldn't take more than half an hour.
