Water taxi fare from o Polo Airport into Venice for 4 with baggage?

The 4 of us with baggage will arrive in Venice on a Monday morning in early October, and wish to hire a water taxi to our Hotel Belle Epoque near the Venice tarin station. HOW MUCH CAN BE EXPECT TO PAY FOR WATER TAXI SERVICE INCLUDING TIP? Our tour agent proposes a "daytime shared transfer" totaling @ $54 each totaling $216 which may be a van with others through through Maestra into Venice.

Hello TwoTravelers.

Here is a website which should answer your question. The private water taxi from the Marco Polo Airport to around the Santa Lucia Train Station in Venice proper will be about 90Euro for all 4 of you. The amount of the tip is up to you. http://www.venicewelcome.com/servizi/taxi/watertaxi.htm

Well- we don;t know where your hotel is. It may be a hike from the nearest dock.

But you can definitely do a private water taxi - which will hold more than 4 people and more luggage than you would ever think of carrying - for way less than that. They don;t charge per person - you hire the entire launch. (FYI - it's a large wooden launch with a cabin you can sit inside - bench seats - as well as outside area for luggage, and sitting if you prefer). 90 euros sounds about right.

What you have to find out from your hotel is the location of the nearest dock and directions for walking from the dock to the hotel (and hoepfully that they will have a bellman meet you at the dock to deal wth your luggage. (We always get a hotel with a private dock to avoid the trekking.)

Sorry - don;t mean to be condescending with the description. But las week I was talking to neighbors going to Venice and they thought the "water taxi" was something like a rowboat with an outboard engine.

that seems high to me. we had a water taxi pick up up at the lido dock at 5am for a 7am flight and paid 110e for the entire party of 4. This was a special deal since we had to get a cab from our hotel at an awful hour and then have the water taxi waiting for us as well when we got to the dock. I think your tour agent is a bit high!

ps - we were told by our hotel concierge that the water taxi rate included a premium for the early hour.

Last Oct, we 4 had to go the Amadeus Hotel which was near the train station. When we got to the dock, we asked how much, and he said 90€. We got into a nice small boat with bench seats for about 10 people, and he sped to the nearest water dock. We paid the 90€ with no tip. When we got off, he told us which way to walk. We pulled our lugggage about 2 blocks and we got to the hotel. Quick, simple, and exciting way to get to Venice.

It looks like your hotel is close to Amadeus, from the map.

$54pp is a ripoff.

As others have said, when you leave the airport , walk to the taxi dock (a short walk). There will be water taxis there. ALways ask them the price in advance. It shouldn't be a problem, and it wil lbe a very comfortable ride, wit hplenty of room for for 4 people with bags.
