Venice- apartment recommendation and area convenient to the train station?

I'm trying to decide between the below apartments:

http://www.sleepinitaly.com/venice/d...biaaudrey2?r=s

http://www.sleepinitaly.com/venice/s...nt-bialena?r=s

I'm really not sure which would be more convenient for us? We are coming from the train station. Any thoughts about these?

Since no actual addresses have been shown, it is difficult to say. For both you will probably need to take a vaporetto from the train station to the apartment, but we have no way of knowing how involved a walk it will be once you are off the vaporetto. The San Marco apartment is probably closer to more tourist sites--which may be good, may be bad since it means it is a very busy area.

The description of the Dorsoduro apartment is probably accurate for how far it is from various locations, although I think 15 minutes to Piazza San MArco is wishful thinking. it is on the first floor, which means second floor if you are from the U.S.

Note that the San Marco apartment is on the second floor, which means third floor if you are from the U.S., with no elevator.

One thing I noticed quickly is that the San Marco apartment has a washer/dryer, while the other one does not. I will not rent an apartment without a w/d... that is one of the benefits I like!

I would probably say I prefer the location of the San Marco one - maybe a bit more touristy, but lively at night.

I agree re: washer/dryer, at least the washer. It is one of the key reasons we will rent an apartment over a hotel.

Thanks everyone. I went with the San Marco one I'm so glad I'm almost done with the lodging part of our trip.
