VAT refund: Denmark, Norway

I am confused… flying into Copenhagen, few days there, then on a cruise to Norway, round-trip from Copenhagen, flying back to the US.

There are 2 types of refund: a form from the seller that I take to the customs in the airport? What about Norway? No airport involved.

Tax-free shopping, but the check must be cashed somewhere in Norway when I am on the ship?

Also, will there be a custom check leaving Denmark on a cruise? We’ll have very limited time in the airport going home.

Need “VAT for dummies” manual

I read this to say that you are doing the following:

- US(?) to CPH >> cruise to Norway >> cruise back to CPH >> CPH to US.

If I am correct, then the easiest thing for the goods you buy in Denmark is to save your forms and have them all stamped at once at the airport there. This is done in the connector between T2 and T3 and should take all of 10 minutes. If you are going CPH-Norway-US, then you can have your Danish forms stamped at the tourist info booth at the Langelinie Pier.

As for the Norway goods, I am not as familiar with their practices, but would think you can either get your forms stamped at the airport or at the cruise ship terminal. I suspect that any retailer that participates in the schemes would be able to give you specifics.

Thank you, Travel, I didn't know there is a boot at Langelinie where I can ask them... I will certainly not shop after the cruise! Helps a lot!

And yes, we are going US - CPH - cruise to Norway - back to CPH - US
