Uffizi & Accademia - Reservations & Time
I'm making reservations for the Uffizi & Accademia & was wondering - what is a good amount of time to spend in each. We appreciate art, but would not consider ourselves "art lovers". Do you make reservations for the date or do you need to specify a time also?

Thanks for your help.

You can see David at the Academia, and some other interesting sculptures in about 45 minutes. It is worth it. Plan to spend at least 2 hours, more likely 3 or more, in the Uffizi. Get the audio tour at Uffizi. Yes, you have to specify time. We did the Academia at about 9:45AM and set reservations for Uffizi for after lunch (around 2:30, 3PM) and it worked out very well.

I'm planning my first trip to Florence for September. From what I understand, you can spend days in Uffizi. It's more a matter of tolerance. I, like you, like art, but am not an 'art lover.' I also can't imagine spending all day indoors when Florence is out there! I can't imagine going to Florence and not seeing Uffizi, but I think I'll be spent after 2 or 3 hours. I made a reservation for Uffizi for first thing in the morning and am leaving my afternoon open. If I love Uffizi, I'll stay as long as I want. In all likelihood I'll probably spend the morning in Uffizi, break for lunch, and head toward the Oltrarno in the afternoon to see Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens.

I used the Weekendafirenze website to book our group of five for both the Uffizi and the Accademia. Everything went very smoothly. We showed up at the reservation entrances at the prearranged times with our confirmation numbers and they let us right in. It sure beat standing line for hours.

I second Les' question. Can you call and make a reservation for the following day? I am planning my first trip to Italy (very excited!!)--and I am surprised at how much of "schedule" we're on because so many sites and musuems require reservations. We are spending a day in Florence at the end of September (a Tuesday). Any thoughts or suggestions?? I have the same question about Nero's Golden House in Rome (if anyone has any information about that as well).
Thanks!
