Hello,

I'm going on a Eurotrip that will last about a month in a half and I would like to get a SIM Card to to stay in communication either through calls, text, and data or just data. I would prefer just getting one international one that I've seen a few online since I'll be changing countries at first. The itinerary is as follows:
Norway June 16-19
Germany June 20-24
France June 25-28
Italy June 29- August 3

I know it will probably be easier to get a local SIM in Italy since I will be staying for a whole month there, but I still would like to have dependable data at least in the other countries. I read about Maxroam and Onesim, which seemed to be the best choices I think, but I'm still not sure if they are worth it or if there is a better option.

We use Onesim card - the standard one which I believe is no longer available. Since we travel to different locations it seemed like a good option. We have used it for about 4 years mostly for phone calls and an occasional text. Do not use it for data. It works fine once you understand how to use it. Since it's an Estonian number it is expensive if someone were to calll you. I didnt want to bother getting a different sim card for each country that we travel to. At the time I calculated that it would be more expenisve to buy individual Sim cards for each country and use only a small amount of the value of the card and then have to throw the card away. The Onesim card allows the money to carry over. I dont know what Onesim offers now, but i would htink that for just a couple weeks it might not be a good value. I am getting ready to re evaluate it for our use.

Recently on this site someone posted a good deal on a card in Italy, I think TIM.

Based on their web page, Onesim has much better data rates than Maxroam, but they're still quite high. You should be able to get a local SIM card in Norway and use it until you get to Italy.

I don't know the Norwegian market, but I saw one operator (Telia) advertised roaming costs of about €0.40 for calls within the EU, and about €3.50 per day for a data bundle of 20 mb. If you try to use wifi wherever possible, and keep data services turned off unless you need them, that should be sufficient.

In Italy, you might want the TIM Welcome plan, which is designed for tourists, and costs €20, plus €10 for the sim card. It gives you 200 minutes of calls to Italian and international numbers, and 500 mb of data. It's good for only one month, only for new customers, and can't be renewed.

You'll be in Italy for over a month, so you might want to continue using the Norwegian plan for the first few days, or else buy a one-week plan when TIM Welcome expires. (I can't connect to TIM right now, but the one-week plan is called something like TIM Settimanale Unlimited, and I believe it costs €10.)

I just jumped in on this link, because we are also looking for a sim card that works in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Voice and text alone are ok. Most of the time we will be in Sweden. Any recommendations? We leave the U.S. on Jul 27th for cruise/land travels.

We used goSIM global SIM card reasonably successfully on a recent trip to Europe. My online research said it was a good choice compared to others but I don't remember OneSIM being reviewed. goSIM is not super cheap but we weren't high users. Postage was very expensive for a local stamp. We were going to use the TIM Welcome card which sounds great but were visiting more than one country. However, in your case with more than a month in Italy I'd go for that.
