train reservation goof on venice to rome reservation-reassurance anyone?

I thought I'd repost this as a separate question to see if anyone had any answers. I just navigated trenitalia site and tried to book 9 tickets-i know now that you can only do up to 5. I did have trouble choosing seats and ended up booking 3 different times for 3 seats each. I am not so adept at these sites and so I think I probably could have booked 4 and 5 but I tried to choose seats and they would only choose three at a time. It might have worked without choosing seats but....

Anyway, there is a promotion of 29/39 euros for seats venice to rome. I didn't realize I could choose first class if I picked the 29 euro tickets. I found out later that they sell the 29 tickets first (either class) and then the 39 when the seats sell out. Oh well, I guess we will go 2nd class. I was fine with second class until I found out I could have had first for the same price. Sometimes this money thing is a mind-game.

Okay, on to the real reason for the post. I have not received a confirmation for the tickets from trenitalia. I only wrote down the seat numbers for the last two orders-I missed seeing that on the first one. I didn't print anything out because the printer is down and I was hoping to print the e-mails when they came. Now what? Do we just board the train with the PNR numbers (someone said this on another post), and have the 6 people with seats sit in their seats and the other three people just wait for the conductor to find out their seats?

What do you guys think-any train folks want to ease my mind, I'd appreciate it.

This board has helped me plan my trip so much. Thanks again. Brenda

Hi gang,

Go back to www.trenitalia.com

Click "Timetable and Purchasing"

Click "HOW TO..."

Click "FAQ..."

You can get a refund for your current tickets.

Go into the Customer Area and check "Verify my requests", and check if all your reservations are there. If the one without seats is not there check with Visa if payment went through. If it did you will then have to follow up with them. If it did not I suppose you can assume you do not have seats , but hopefully others will be able to clear this up for you further. I have had an awful time as weel booking and retrospectively I should have just waited to get there and book, but trying to save me valuable holiday time has caused more stress.

I did get a different confirmation order # and pnr for all three orders. I assume I also got seats for the first order since everything was the same, I just didn't write down the seat numbers. If I got the e-mail confirmations they would probably have all the seat numbers, but of course they haven't come yet.
I will try the suggestions and let you know what happens. First I think I will check to see if they are there, then check about cancelling and rebooking. I'll keep you posted. thanks for the quick replies.

I just tried to log on to the site but I can't seem to do it-I'll try again later or just try to call the help phone. Anyone have any luck calling-I don't speak any Italian.

Many people have reported that the site seems to be operational chiefly during local Italian business hours, say, 9:00 to 5:00 THEIR time (six hours ahead of eastern time).

Rather than waste money on a telephone call in which you may well not be able to getting anyone who speaks English (it's 11:00 p.m. there now), wait and try again tomorrow morning.
