I need feedback on reliability of Pasha Tours in Turkey. Am taking an 15 day tour of Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, Ephesus in late November 97.

Just returned from Turkey 10/10/97 with Globus. Saw Pasha buses everywhere and setup seemed very good. Stayed in many hotels where we were. You are in for a treat. Turkey is a great destination. Food is good and the sites are wonderful. Take good shoes and a calculator. l Million lira is about $5.80. Pasha is certainly a very reputable tour company.

I too am interested in touring Turkey, in June. have never been, don't know much history, what are the highlights, etc. Can we arrange a tour when we get there of some best places, or must we do it here before we leave. How much does a hotel cost, say, a three star equivalent???

Just returned from a two week Pasha tour. There were certainly plenty of Pasha Tour buses in Turkey. The tour was fine. Our guide was terrific. You will see a lot as there are many exciting things to see and do in Turkey. Pasha is certainly great value. Expect to spend plenty of time on the bus because there are great distances between some of the cities. They always stop though for bathroom breaks. There was no bathroom on our bus. Be very careful what you eat!! Everything looks wonderful but many people were sick within two days. Don't drink the water anywhere except bottled, and don't eat the salads. The other bus traveling with us had half of their people sick within two days. Pasha could select better restaurants in rural Turkey. Many times when we arrived for lunch the food would already be out buffet style. How long the food was sitting their who knows. Some people on our bus were sick the whole trip. That was the only down side. You will get your moneys worth. Enjoy your visit.
Having been travelers to both eastern and western Turkey, my wife and I have seen Pasha Tours buses on the road many times. We have traveled with Grand Circle and Globus plus doing a lot of nosing around on our own. At no time were either of us ill. Common precautions: drink bottled water only, wash your hands frequently, don't put your fingers into or near your mouth, eat selectively, avoid persons with colds. Good precautions both at home and abroad. Turkey is such a splendid travel experience. One comes away with a totally new perspective. Hospitality and courtesy of persons you meet is overwhelming. Their friendliness and curiosity toward (especially) Americans is touching. Be sure to take along some warm clothing because central and eastern Anatolia is quite cold by late November. E-mail us direct with questions, if you wish.
Margaret.
We did a GAT 17 day tour in Turkey a couple of years ago and Pasha was the company they used. We felt it was all very good. Out guide was outstanding. We had a bus driver who only needed about 1/4" clearance to take us any place. We also had a bus boy to handle luggage and serve coffee or tea while traveling. Our bus had a rest room. We felt the hotels and food were very good. I know you will enjoy Turkey.

Julie, Hi.

I have just returned from Turkey where we did our own thing, with
great success and ease. We walked around Istanbul, picked up a car at the airport and drove down thru Gallipole and then on to Fethiye.
And given that it was on the wrong side of the road for us, we did not have any trouble. If you want to email me please do and I can go into what we did and where we stayed. Doing it ourselves, we were fortunate to be able to go to spots tours don't touch.
It is a wonderful place, and people very friendly. Denise
I just returned from a tour of Turkey with Pacha (note spelling). I had purchased a land package plus domestic airfares to add to a 3 wk trip of Italy. When I arrived in Ankara I learned that no one else had signed up for the tour. Nonetheless, I had a complete tour of Turkey. I began in Ankara, had a two day excursion to Cappadochia (one day is enough but it is a long trip by van), then flew to Izmir, and then flew to Istanbul where I added an extra day. The hotels were excellent - several were owned by Pacha. The Aziyade in Istanbul was terrific - although it had a posted rate of $125 for a single without breakfast, an extra night with an excellent breakfast cost me a little over $30. It is owned by Pacha.

I thought the food everywhere was wonderful - especially the buffets. I know no one who got sick. The food is primarily fresh vegetables and dishes that are like stews. Bottled water, cokes, beer and wine are available everywhere.

I had two minor complaints about Pacha - they seemed to be adlibbing my arrangements - I never knew when a tour on a particular day would depart until I got a tel. call - I would have liked a detailed written schedule - I think they were probably trying to economize on me by adding me to other excursion groups. Secondly, the tour guides were not top rate - they could provide scripted descriptions but when asked a question in English, they went completely blank. Generally, however, I thought Pacha provided a terrific value and Turkey is WONDERFUL. It is safe, clean, the people are warm and friendly, and the art and history are overwhelming. Have a great time.

Turkey is wonderful! No one got sick on my tour, either...just use common sense, bottled water, etc

It has to be one of the most fascinating countries I have ever visited. People were great, unbelievable sights, no complaints at all from me. I'd go tomorrow if I didn't have to work.

Turkey is wonderful.Friendly people and the cost of everything was great.Did trip on my own and spent 4 days in Istanbul and the flew to Izmir and then drove to Boodrum and rented a wonderful boat for 10 days and visited small coastal towns.I suggest you take american dollar bills as they are very desirable because of inflation of lire. Use credit cards when you can because I think you get the best exchange rates and be prepared to bargain like crazy when buying rugs and almost anything. One person got sick one night and that was at a 4 star hotel in Istanbul. Most restaurants have very fresh food and will even show you a platter before serving.Emial me if you want details
