There's a new Andrew Lloyd Weber which friends just saw about a month ago. They couldn't stop raving about it, but I'll be hanged if I can remember the name.

Just saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it was fantastic. Lots of fun, lots of kids in the audience who clapped and sang and made it a magical night in the theater.

Also saw My Fair Lady which was good but did not blow me away.

If you haven't seen Les Miz, see it in London...fabulous.

We just came back from London, where we saw three shows that I would recommend;
1. Mamma Mia. I especially loved this show. I am a senior, but appreciated the ABBA music. I haven't enjoyed myself any more at a musical!;
2. Lion King - already knew the story , but the staging was super. worth the money.;
3. The Complete Works of Wm.Shakespere -Abridged - A funny show. Three Americans do 'all' of WS's works. Some slapstick, but funny, funny, funny. And you can get half price tickets.
Enjoy.

Does anyone know the name of the new Andrew Lloyd Weber performance? My family would be very interested in seeing this during our visit in June. Thanks! Laurie

Laurie,
Bombay Dreams is ALW most recent work however he is only the producer not the writer. Not sure if this is the one you mean?

Breath of Life, Of course! Provided you can get reasonable seats. I booked online the day the tickets went on sale and obtained very good seats...

Les Miserables is super, if you haven't already seen it in London.

for discount tickets up to three days in advance, check out www.theatrenow.com
I used this site for tickets to STOMP on a saturday night performance. Recommended if you like percussion.

Be warned that popular shows (and even the moderately popular shows on the weekends) are likely not going to be available through this site.

Steve

I guess the person talking about Andrew Lloyd Weber means "Bombay Dreams", one of the worst pieces of musical theatre. I guess if you love that offbeat, offkey sounding Indian music and overamplified semi-rock sounds it might be OK. We thought it was awful.
On the way out of the theatre I heard a bunch of people swoon, "Oh, I just love everything he writes", presumably still thinking that Sir Andrew had anything in the world to do with writing this piece of crap. He didn't.

We are seeing My Fair Lady. It seems to have gotten really good reviews, particularly with the new star playing Eliza.

I went to the Lion King just because there were so few choices on a Sunday afternoon.

As a middle aged, single man, I didn’t think it would be particularly my kind of show. I never saw the movie.

It was wonderful! It was my favorite of the four shows I saw. (The others were Blood Brothers, Noises Off and This Is Our Youth)

And after NYC, the London show prices are so reasonable!!

Keith
Saw Mama Mia in South Florida and would recommend it anywhere. In fact the CD is from the London production. This of course if you are an Abba fan.

While in London we saw MFL and it was very good as expected.

Also saw Blood Brothers on the recommendation of our daughter. We thought it was excellent. The theatre is so small you can almost touch the stage from the balcony.
