My wife and I will be spending the first 3 days of our 10 day vacation in Bath for a family celebration. We have rented a car and expect to spend some time in Bath and the Cotswolds. Here's the problem for us: We have been to Bath, The Cotswolds, Stratford, Oxford and also toured through Avebury. We will be leaving from Bristol (after the weekend) and have 4 days before we end up in London for the last 3 days and would like to explore some of the countryside---but where?

Head for Winchester and the New Forest...

Bristol to the Peak District is only about a 3 hour drive....will give you a completely different countryside

A fun place to explore might be Dorset -- north of Dorchester is the famous Cerne Abbas Giant and some lovely little villages.

The New Forest brought a wonderful memory of years ago when we stayed at a charming B&B in Lyndhurst. Got up early and wandered a bit and saw the New Forest ponies in the mists.

Exmoor and Dartmoor are aslo interesting destinations in the area.

Fife

Kent is a possibility, especially if you like English history or English gardens. The countryside is very pleasant to look at and walk through.

Wells (an absolute must-see) then west/northwest into Hereford

OR Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Valley of the Coln, White Horse Hill, then south to Salisbury and Winchester.

OR Severn Bridge to south Wales, Chepstow, Tintern Abbey, and beyond

OR Devon and Cornwall

OR the South Downs

There are many beautiful places, houses etc in the Home Counties, but the traffic can be awful
