We took a taxi two days ago from our hotel on Hermostilla to Barajas Terminal 1 in 11 minutes flat in late morning. Traffic was about normal. The cost was €21,50, including the airport supplement. That's about as cheap as it gets!

We took it two weeks ago from Wellington to T2 for only a euro more...
Didn't time it, but the traffic was really light for eight in the morning.

It does not sound nice in Madrid at the moment.

It's called "limited services"! Trash in front hotels, residential buildings, along Cava Baja, in Plaza Santa Ana and along the busy shopping streets are being picked up and not a problem. But yes, the trash has piled up in some areas, leaving a real mess.

Maria I think you have got the wrong thread. There is nothing about the cost of living being asked here.
Just to let other readers of this forum know the rubbish collectors have gone back to work. Streets are now being cleaned.

Yep - the streets look pretty decent now. From what I have seen, the trash has been picked up on major streets and they are working on the smaller ones.
