Tauck's A Taste of France - Rhone River Cruise
Hi There,
Thinking about taking my mother on the this Tauck's Taste of France river cruise.
http://www.tauck.com/tours/europe-to...-rof-2012.aspx
Has anyone been on this cruise or another Tauck tour? I did notice that Tauck tours are bit more expensive than others, but it looks things are all inclusive.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Mika,
I have only taken a Tauck tour in the American Southwest - first class! Offerings in Europe are beyond my budget but I am sure that you will be satisfied with any Tauck offering.
Good luck!

We did a Tauck in 2010 for our 50th. Very good tour and expensive. If you consider Tauck, get there best price and then talk to www.pavlustravel.com for another 5% off. Or www.affordabletours.com You will also find other companies doing the same trip in France, but less expensive. There is a lot to look at on these two web sites, but you can e-mail each company with specifics and get your answer. We used Pavlus and they had good customer service.

I've done 7 Tauck Europe tours. The last involved a cruise along the Dalmatian Coast on a small ship (about 200 passengers). All aspects of the cruise tour were handled just as well as the other land only tours.
I have traveled with my mother on some of the tours and some alone, and I think Tauck does a great job. Their tours are expensive, but I think they are done right. For example on the tour I last took with the 7-day cruise, all meals on the ship were included; wine/beer was included with meals; each afternoon there was afternoon tea in the lounge with various teas, tea sandwiches, pastries, juice, etc.; each evening there was at least an hour of cocktail hour where all drinks were included (whatever and however much you wanted) and light appetizers were passed; at all meals you could dine with whomever you wished at whatever time you selected (meals weren't at a set time accept for the Captain's "gala" dinner); all shore excursions were included and had the Tauck tour director as well as a local guide; and all gratuities to the Tauck director(s), local guides, drivers and ship's crew were included.
Several times I chose to grab a quick bite in the city/town where we were docked to maximize my sightseeing time, but I could have just dined on the ship and not had to pay for additional meals.
I like the fact that once you arrive you don't have to deal with your luggage too (I don't pack lightly).

I just had to chime in. I don't know about Tauk tours; but I took my mom on a barge cruise, and we had a ball! She was in her late 70's at that time, and I was extremely glad I had the assistance of a tour for our trip. It just helped smooth the way for us; & much less stress for me.
I hope you and your mom have as wonderful a trip as I did with mine. She still talks about the great food and wine we had!
