I don't understand why you list countries and then London...

You can buy all of your tickets online or at the train stations.

Even with a pass you'd still need to pay extra for some of the high speed trains. I'm sure you already know this.

Good luck! ;-)

OK -- I'm a bit confused here. This is your first post on Fodors, so who advised you about the pass/point to point/Italy?

Secondly - you are listing four countries in 12 days. Each of those countries is quite large. What exactly do you mean? London, Paris, Munich, and Geneva? Or something else?

You can't "do" France in 3 days. And even if you just mean Paris, that is no time at all.

How many days do you plan for Italy?

Why not give us some details and we can maybe help you a bit. But as it now stands you will have 1 to 1.5 days in Switzerland, 2-2.5 days in Germany, 2 days in France, and 3 days in England (assuming you fly out of the UK).

(no pass that is good on the continent will cover you in England)

ok,I had looked at some of the conversations the last few days and someone else was doing the Italy trip and was confused about the Euro rail as I was.
I have bought it before but never tallied up the individual price so was unsure to get it again.
One of the replies was that you could do point to point or buy at TA or train station..so that helped me make my decision.
We are leaving Venice(after1 day and night) to go to Milan(stay overnight) to take the Gotthard train to Zurich and stay for 2 days, then we thought of Berlin and maybe the Black forest for 3 days.then we thought about leaving Germany and into the wine country of France(not sure on those details) for 3-4 days and then Paris for 2-3 nights. Then from Paris to London to see family and our last 4 days.
I still have to look at France and see where we want to go but I'm sure it will be something to do with country and wine and I'm open to any suggestions. My friend is from Berlin so she is giving me some info on that in a few days.We don't have set plans as you can see and kind of taking that kind of trip without to many restrictions.
I thank you for your suggestions,
