Yes mailing fees - no reason to buy it in advance as you still must go to the ticket window I think to activate it. But DO check prices in U S dollars if in the States as more often than not in years of comparing prices for the exact same pass it has been cheaper, sometimes significantly so, if bought here rather than there - why? donnow and RailEurope who wholesales them here is part owned by the Swiss Railways.
But if the price differential is not much just buy there as once your purchase a pass if you have to refund it I think the cancellation fee is 20% and you never know... another reason for not buy from place in Switzerland in advance.
For lots of great info on Swiss trains and passes (also check out the Half-Fare Card, Swiss Card (excatly same as half-Fare Card but it also gives you two train trips - one to any destination in Switzerland and another back to any airport or border does not have to be the same as you started at and also Swiss Transfer ticket - lots of choices but do compare Swiss Pass prices in dollars here and francs there - keepin gin mind any % your credit card may charge for foreign transactions, if any.
Anyway - great sites - www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.ricksteves.com; www.seat61.com and http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/id3.html.

what kind of Swiss Pass are you buying - if it is a flexipass 99.99% of people will be best off with the minimum 3-day Swiss Flexipass than any longer version. a 4-day flexi would be a waste of money over the 3-day for nearly everyone. I mention this because not everyone realizes this - sounds like you have done your homework but just in case I mention that.

The cost of passes are set by the railroads, not any travel agency including RailEurope. Anything greater is a markup; wait and get it in Switzerland>
well 90% of the time in the past several years you would have paid more for the exact same pass if bought in Switzerland rather than thru RailEurope or its agents - Again RE is part owned by the Swiss Railways and RE sets the price of passes it sells in accordance with its parent organization, the Swiss Railways.
Always compare pass prices here and there and if not much difference just wait to there - but there often has been significant differences since I've been buying and comparing prices.
