I'm an avid birdwatcher and am travelling to Ireland next month. Could anyone please suggest a good bird identification book for Ireland? If you know cost that would be helpful! As would suggested bookstores in Shannon, or anywhere on the west coast. Thanks in advance!

If you're an avid birder, you must be familiar with Roger Tory Peterson and his guides. He has a Field Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe. You may find it out of print but a good library should have it.

I seem to recall several bird books in the stores over there. Irish book shops seem to be greatly weighted in favor of Irish topics so I'm sure you will have no trouble

I would think you could order one from either amazon.com or barnes and noble and have it delivered in plenty of time. <BR>

I too am a keen birder. the absolute state of the art is Lars Jonssen's "Birds of Europe which is out in paperback at £15. ( I may have spelt that surname wrongly. I have the book bu it's in the car and I'm too lazy to check. <BR> <BR>Subbuteo Natural History books will have it. They are on www.subbooks.demon.co.uk. and if asked will give you more advice than you can shake a stick at.
